Bringing the heat
The youngest age group for the SBMSA Heat softball team (pictured) played their first tournament at Bayer Park in Spring. Participating in the Summer Sizzler tournament, the 6U girls from Rummel Creek, Frostwood and Hunters Creek Elementary Schools had a great introduction to tournament softball. Head coach Barrett Schick held practices twice a week during the summer months, while keeping the girls safely distanced from each other and letting the hand sanitizer flow. This competitive group of girls shocked many of their opponents with their ability to chase down runners, and they can’t wait to get back on the field for more tournaments. The 6U Heat players are (top row, from left) Presley Green, Hallie Warren, Shae Smith, Cambrie Marks, Payton Grigsby, Elise Manuel, (bottom row, from left) Kate Hancock, Audrey Edmonds, Margaret Randolph, Riley Schick and Hannah Alleman.
