Making learning limitless
Pratham, one of the largest education-focused charitable organizations in India, hosted its first-ever national gala. More than 1,100 supporters from across the country attended the virtual fundraiser, which featured CNN host and Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria, actor and producer Anil Kapoor and singer, lyricist and composer Shaan. Houstonians who participated in the virtual gala included Dr. Marie and Vijay Goradia, Indrani and Hemant Goradia, Bimla and Swatantra Jain, Anne and Albert Chao, and Habiba and Ali Dhanani. Called “Pratham Beyond: Make Learning Limitless,” the event raised $2 million, which will provide remote learning to 600,000 children in some of India’s most vulnerable communities. “Even during this time of crisis, Houston has shown its unwavering support for Pratham’s mission,” said Dhiren Shethia, president of the Houston chapter.
