The park life
Memorial Park’s 100-acre Clay Family Eastern Glades recently opened to the public. The Jiménez Pérez family were the first official visitors. Originally from Colombia, the family moved to Houston in 2015 and lived near Memorial Park. They then moved to a Houston-area suburb for a little while but missed the area surrounding the park and moved back to the area right before the unveiling of the Eastern Glades area. The new Eastern Glades includes the 5-acre Hines Lake and wetlands, a mile and a half of new boardwalks and walking trails and new picnicking areas including Live Oak Court, a food truck court and event lawn, alongside three covered picnic pavilions and four picnic pads.
