The spirit of Houston
The nonprofit Houston Hospice’s 22nd annual Spirit Award Dinner will honor The Garden Club of Houston. This year, the celebration will be a hybrid event – a live-stream and in-person - Oct. 28, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the River Oaks Country Club. The Laura Lee Blanton Community Spirit Award recognizes a community leader or organization that has made a positive impact on the Greater Houston Area. The Garden Club of Houston has supported many Houston-area green spaces, including The Garden at Houston Hospice, in addition to providing educational programs to children, teens and adults. This year’s speaker will be New York Times bestselling author and breast cancer survivor Elin Hilderbrand. Chairs are Elizabeth and Peter Wareing. Elizabeth is a longtime supporter of Houston Hospice and is also the daughter of Laura Lee Blanton, the namesake of the Spirit Award.
