A.D. Players at The George
A.D. Players at The George Theater recently celebrated its third annual After Dinner Affair. Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, A.D. Players had taken a nearly $1 million loss – like many theaters across the country – and were determined to make the fundraiser a can’t-miss virtual event. It was organized by co-chairs Melody and Mike Massey and Susan and Ted Gaze, A.D. Players development department and Morgan Todd Events. Hosted by executive director Jake Speck and artistic director Kevin Dean, the evening featured entertainment from Chelsea Ryan McCurdy, Brooke Wilson, Courtney Markowitz, Emily Tello Speck and Patrick Thomas (finalist on The Voice). Virtual guests included five-time Grammy award-winner Steven Curtis Chapman from Nashville and powerhouses John-Mark McGaha and Piper Jones joining via video from Birmingham. Thousands of supporters tuned in for the virtual gala, raising $357,000. Pictured is supporter Carrie Woliver, a member of the A.D. Players Ambassador Council and the After Dinner Affair and Auction Committee. Carrie said the virtual experience “knocked my socks off!” – literally. See adplayers.org.
