Breakfast with baseball legends
Kenny Baldwin, Anthony Rendon, Jimmy Disch, Jon Prather and Brooks and Julie McGee were among the 175 guests at the SpringSpirit 11th Annual Breakfast for Champions held at River Oaks Country Club. Another 200 people live-streamed the event that raised more than $800,000 for Christian-based programs that support kids through sports, education, and mentoring. Major League baseball player and World Series champion Anthony Rendon interviewed another baseball great, Lance Berkman, and it was the highlight of the event. Guests enjoyed listening to them trade baseball stories and share their experiences being involved with SpringSpirit. Julie and Brooks McGee chaired the event along with honorary chairs Cara and Lance Berkman. Reid Ryan, former Astros president, was honored for his long-time mentoring involvement and received a gift from SpringSpirit president Kenny Baldwin.
