Neighbors and teammates
It was a great season for the Bellaire Recreation Center 8/9 Pelicans (pictured). The basketball program was able to continue this year, with safety measures in place during the pandemic. The Pelicans competed against three other teams in their age division: the Mavs, Rockets, and Spurs, in a low-key season. The Pelicans attend a variety of schools, including Horn Elementary, Lovett Elementary, Beth Yeshurun Day School, St. Vincent de Paul, Kolter Elementary, and St. Thomas’ Episcopal. Bellaire’s rec league is the perfect opportunity for them to play together on a neighborhood team. The Pelicans are (top row) Daphne Skipworth; (middle row, from left) Katherine George, Penelope Leibman, Callie Bourg, Mackenzie Erskine, and Bella Most; (bottom row, from left) Jessica Whitley, Sydney Fahey, and Lena Flippen.
