Editor's Note - May 2021

Not too long ago, I received a text message from Buzz writer Annie McQueen: “I met this cute mom at the car wash yesterday. Her daughters show ponies….” It was not surprising that a random chat at the car wash turned into a Buzz article. Since the girls are older, the topic wasn’t a fit for Annie’s Buzz Baby column, but that didn’t matter to Annie. Our editorial team is always tuned in and looking for a good story. We’re also glad writer Karen Vine Fuller clued us in about dock diving – we had no idea this was a dog sport available in Houston. Of course, as animal lovers, we dove right in. In this issue, you’ll meet Buzz neighbors who share their passions for showing ponies, watching their dogs leap into water, and spreading kindness around the community. You’ll learn about families who celebrate Ramadan, which culminates on May 12 this year, and you’ll discover small Texas towns that are worth the drive.
