Love for lacrosse
Sasha Arlinghaus, a junior at Lamar High School in the magnet IB program, accepted an offer to play lacrosse for Campbell University. Sasha started playing lacrosse in fourth grade. Her dad, Paul Arlinghaus, encouraged her to try the game. At the time, Sasha had said she didn’t want to play lacrosse just because her dad was a lacrosse player. Paul played on Bellaire High School’s first lacrosse team in 1989, continued at The University of Texas, and played on men’s club teams in Texas. Sasha agreed to try for a season. She never looked back. Sasha played on teams at Pershing, Swizzlesticks Lacrosse, and GRIT Lacrosse. As a rising Lamar sophomore, Sasha was selected to the Southwest Region team as an Under Armour All American, participating in the annual UAAA tournament in Baltimore. The recruiting process was challenging due to Covid, but Sasha was recruited by a number of schools. She’s looking forward to attending Campbell University, an NCAA Division School located in North Carolina, and playing for the lacrosse team starting in 2022.
