Full-circle at Horn

This year, it all came full circle for Horn parent Jennifer Cannon. Thirty-four years ago, she (then Jennifer Jones) started at Horn Elementary as a kindergartener. Her beloved teacher, Ms. Evelyn Gates, was in her first year of teaching at the time. Thirty-four years later, Jennifer’s youngest son, James Cannon, has had Ms. Gates as his first-grade teacher – and Jennifer has been the room parent. In more full-circle connections, Jennifer’s oldest son, Brooks, has had Ms. Tiffany Thorn for fourth grade this year. Jennifer and Tiffany have known each other since they were kindergarteners; they both attended Horn, Pershing Middle School, and Bellaire High School. Jennifer has also been the room parent for Ms. Thorn. And the Horn family connection goes back even further – Jennifer’s dad, Bill Jones, also attended the elementary school. Bill played football for Horn in fifth grade (when the school offered a football program). At the time, they were known as the Horn Frogs. Bill attended Horn, Pershing, and Bellaire.
