Fundraiser with heart

The American Heart Association hosted the 2021 Houston Go Red for Women Digital Celebration to support the effort to end heart disease and stroke and raise awareness of the No. 1 killer of women – cardiovascular disease. Guests wore red as they enjoyed the virtual experience from their homes. Mother-daughter team Laura and Nina Bhatia (pictured) were co-chairs, and emcee was Katherine Whaley. Attendees heard a survivor story from Cindy Yeilding and an interview with women’s advocate Janet Gurwitch. The event, sponsored by SheSpace and its founders, Stephanie and Katie Tsuru, raised more than $900,000.
