More than 150 “early birds” gathered for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston’s “Rise and Shine Breakfast” held at River Oaks Country Club. The breakfast included a speech by Robert Ellis, Youth of the Year. Robert displayed strong character, leadership, and academic excellence during his time with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and is an incoming freshman at Xavier University in New Orleans, where he plans to study neurology. Former board chairman Bill Goetz and wife Joey Goetz received the 2021 Carol Freeman Volunteer of the Year Award. Carol Freeman gave an inspirational speech about caring for others and the role philanthropy plays in providing a safe place for kids to go. More than $125,000 was raised to benefit programming for youth ages six through 18. Pictured are (from left) Julius Young, Bill and Joey Goetz, and Kevin Hattery.
