Lee Abshire

When the Abshire family visited family friends near Seattle over the Fourth of July weekend, Saint Thomas’ Episcopal student Lee Abshire jumped at the opportunity to play bagpipe in the local parade in Edmonds. The Northwest Junior Pipe Band, including Lee and friends Evan and Jake Markus – who attended STE prior to their move to Seattle, played tunes from Scotland the Brave to Mairi’s Wedding. Parents Molly and Jerry Abshire and sister Mary-Ellen cheered them on. Lee (pictured), a rising eighth grader, is a member of STE’s Highland Band. He’s been playing the bagpipes for five years in competitions and performances across Texas.
