Houston Ballet is back
The Margaret Alkek Williams Jubilee of Dance Onstage Dinner, chaired by Jamie and Mark Loveland, celebrated the Company’s return to the Wortham Theater Center and the opening of the 2021-22 season. After 18 months, Houston Ballet returned to the stage with opening remarks by County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Ballet Board president Leigh Smith. Nearly 200 guests attended the Margaret Alkek Williams Jubilee of Dance performance and post-performance dinner, which took place on the Brown stage. This year’s performance included the onstage premiere of artistic director Stanton Welch AM's In Good Company, underwritten by Leticia Loya, and excerpts from fan favorites including Divergence and Play, as well as a tribute to principal dancer Melody Mennite’s 20th anniversary with the Company. This year’s event raised nearly $250,000, a record-breaking success. See houstonballet.org.
