Building a dream
Houston Habitat for Humanity’s Building a Dream annual luncheon, held at the Westin Houston Medical Center, raised nearly $400,000 for the organization’s programs to build and improve homes of individuals in need. Supported by presenting sponsor Trinidad (Trini) Mendenhall, the luncheon drew more than 400 guests. Owen Conflenti, KPRC-2 anchor, was the emcee, and musician Michael Pickett provided entertainment. Community activist and philanthropist Leela Krishnamurthy was honored for her support. Her award was presented by Mayor Sylvester Turner and Consul General of India Shri Aseem Mahajan. Keynote speaker was Antoinette M. (Toni) Jackson, principal with The Banks Law Firm, an expert on affordable housing.
