A spirited opening day
WUSA Moonbeams

West University Softball Association Moonbeams

The West University Softball Association (WUSA) Moonbeams were named spirit winners for the 8U age group at the annual season-opening celebration. Players and families from 92 WUSA teams gathered for a parade of teams, opening ceremonies, and a carnival to kick off the league’s 45th season. Each team used its mascot as inspiration for festive parade costumes that included creative touches like boas, tutus, and headdresses. After the parade, teams gathered on Gilbert Field at West University Elementary School for opening ceremonies and the carnival, with rides, games, and confetti eggs. The spirit-winning 8U Moonbeams are (back row, from left) Danny Hughes, Jen Hughes, Beatrice Layne, Kelly Layne, (front row, from left) Molly Hodges, Victoria Diaz, Chloe Abrams, Anna Katherine Hulsey, Austyn Laird, Emma Hughes, and Saige Lowery
