Wrestling champs
Pin Oak Middle School seventh grader Charlie Turner (pictured, left) and Pershing Middle School seventh grader Josh Guzman (right) competed in the Texas Middle School state wrestling tournament. The athletes qualified for the competition after extensive training that led to each of them winning first place in their division at the Houston Area Middle School championship. Josh placed fourth at state and finished with a 5-2 record, winning two matches by pinning and three by decision. Both Charlie and Josh plan to continue wrestling and hope to win first place in their division at next year’s state competition.
