Cheers to 100 years
Evelyn Gunnels (pictured), former long-term Treasurer of the Daughters of the American Revolution, celebrated 100 years of life on Aug. 4, surrounded by close friends, family, and fellow Belmont Village Hunter’s Creek residents. She attended business school in Dallas where she worked as a secretary and met her husband. His career took them to Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Port Arthur, Texas, and eventually to Houston where they happily raised their three children and built a fulfilling life. Evelyn is incredibly proud of her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Tech savvy even at 100, Evelyn shares her advice for longevity, which includes eating a well-balanced diet, always maintaining tolerance for others, and exercising her brain regularly through activities like crossword puzzles, computer games, and Sudoku.
