Love for the neighborhood
In my Creative Writing class, our teacher asked us to describe a place with lots of detail. I immediately thought of West U. I have lived in West U my whole life, and I admire it as a great place to live. It has a beautiful landscape with lots of great parks. There are so many things you can do here. Sometimes I write poems, and this assignment inspired me to write a poem that I like more than any other poem I have written.
My Dream Place
a poem about West University
As you casually step outside, the sun slowly warms your face.
Birds softly sing in the breeze, and the warm grass makes your feet cozy.
The towering tangle of trees with their twisted limbs pointing every which way
provide an excellent shade spot.
Children and friends alike play in the street as cars pass by.
The sounds and smells of people cooking dinner on the grill in their backyard all become a labyrinth that has a special meaning to each person who lives in this neighborhood
Like the sounds of old friends playing in the park
or the smell of the neighborhood snack shop selling cookies, or the squeaking of bicycle tires screeching past as you walk the road.
This is my dream place.
This is our labyrinth with all exits leading to tranquility and fun.
A maze with a prize of immeasurable love and hope.
A product of hard work and labor.
The towers barely scrape the sky in the distance, the sky so clear, like a Caribbean Sea.
This place, where we, as kids, have the freedom to govern on our own.
Land abandoned only for the better to take over.
A calm and excitement rolls over anyone who steps on the premises,
where all evil and worries fade over time, as you are pulled into the peaceful bliss of
this beautiful place.
My street, my neighborhood, my dream place.
