Remembering Gloria Ribnick
Family, colleagues, and friends of Gloria Ribnick, who passed away on December 29, 2022, gathered to pay tribute to her memory at the 110th annual meeting of the newly renamed Joan and Stanford Alexander Jewish Family Service (JFS). Gloria served as the director of marketing for a quarter of a century, beginning when she was 71 years old. During her tenure, Gloria devoted her time to building the reputation of the agency so it would no longer be “the best kept secret in town.” She lent her talents to a variety of marketing and public relations efforts, including the annual United Way campaign and the newsletter, Mishpacha, which helped secure millions of dollars in donations to assist JFS clients. When Gloria passed away, she was the agency’s oldest employee at age 95 and was still attending every meeting by Zoom. Her marketing talents date back to her days as a student at the University of Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree and was editor of the school yearbook. She married fellow journalist Jerry Ribnick, and they enjoyed 44 years together before his passing in 1996. The pair owned Ribnick & Associates Advertising and Public Relations, where they produced many award-winning television and radio commercials. Gloria is survived by her children L. Greg Ribnick and Amelia Ribnick Kleiman, her grandchildren Selina Ribnick Broadaway, Brett Kleiman, and Jacklyn Kleiman, as well as many nieces and nephews. JFS is in the process of establishing the Gloria Ribnick Marketing Internship in her memory, with more details to come this summer.
