Evelyn’s Park's annual Picnic in the Park and Earth Day Celebration, held on Sat., April 22, was a huge success. The festival, in honor of Earth Day and the park’s sixth anniversary, featured a lively afternoon of live music, activities, entertainment, food and drinks, a seedling giveaway donated by Trees for Houston, and more. Blue skies, sunshine, and the perfect 70-degree temperatures set the scene for an extra special afternoon outdoors.

Some highlights included a community rock painting project hosted by The City of Bellaire Arts Board – finished rocks will be included in a temporary art installation by Betsy’s at Evelyn’s Park; the Crush the Can activity hosted by The City of Bellaire’s Environmental Sustainability Board, who provided education about recycling; The Outlier Band live; T2 Dance performances, including an interactive dance; exercise challenges led by F45 Training Central Houston; face painting; flavored edible bubbles by BubbleLick; crafts; scavenger hunts at he Alice and Wonderland and Move One On Sculpture; and more. A birthday party wouldn’t be complete without a cake; attendees enjoyed a birthday cake cutting.

Last year, Phase 2 of the park debuted at the Picnic in the Park event, including new shade structures, play areas, and the popular splash pad. Over the past year, kids of all ages have enjoyed the new playscapes and the park continues to provide a beautiful hangout for families and friends. Find upcoming events at Evelyn’s Park here.

The Buzz is proud to partner with the park and we were happy to provide popcorn and greet families at Picnic in the Park. View a slideshow of festival photos below.
