Back to prom night
Duke and Michelle Ensell (pictured) were crowned prom king and queen at Great Age Movement’s Back to the Future senior prom gala at The Ballroom at Tanglewood. More than 250 guests donned ’80s-inspired attire and raised $160,000 for Great Age Movement’s efforts to support exercise programs in community green spaces and build senior fitness parks, including the organization’s third fitness park located in Houston’s fifth ward. Emcee Courtney Zavala welcomed guests and introduced event co-chairs Dr. Khaled and Amal Khalaf and Joe and Kirin Wells, along with Great Age Movement founder Fritz McDonald. Celebrity guest speaker Joan MacDonald, an 82-year-old fitness influencer and author of Flex Your Age: Defy Stereotypes and Reclaim Empowerment, addressed the crowd. The cocktail reception included live entertainment from Angela Nichols, and then Baton Rouge ’80s cover band Speak Easy took over and Dance Force Productions got everyone on the dance floor for some breakdancing.
