Friends beyond measure
Childhood friends Carol Staley and Lalena Fisher (pictured, from left) gathered with friends and supporters at Tomfoolery Toys and Books for a book-signing event for Fisher’s new book, Friends Beyond Measure: A Story Told with Infographics. Staley, owner of Tomfoolery Toys and Books, hosted her longtime friend for a children’s event for the book that tells the story of Harwin and friend Ana, who draws charts, graphs, and maps to help process her feelings. Fisher wrote and illustrated the book that blends social-emotional learning with STEM topics, drawing on her experiences working on kids’ TV show Blue’s Clues and designing charts, graphs, and maps for The New York Times. Children enjoyed hearing the story, participating in graphing activities, and having their new books signed.
