The Jumbotron at NRG Stadium states the good news that the Houston Texans are “Movin’ On” to the next round of playoffs!

At the end of the first-round playoff game last Saturday, Jan. 13, the score on the NRG Stadium Jumbotron read: Cleveland Browns – 14; Houston Texans – 45. The environment was electric with Texans fans joyfully celebrating the dominant victory, which allows the team to advance in the playoffs. Up next is a game against the Ravens on Saturday, Jan. 20, with a 3:30 CST kickoff in Baltimore. The game will be televised on ESPN/ABC and streamed on Peacock and NFL+.

Buzz fans who were at the Cleveland game share their experience being part of one of the most dynamic wins in Houston football history.

Heather and Steve Johnson

Heather and Steve Johnson are proud to be Houston Texans fans.

Heather Johnson had a busy Houston weekend, first cheering for the Texans at NRG Stadium on Saturday, then having her own Hype Squad of family and friends cheering on her and her daughter, Kelsey, while they ran the Houston Half Marathon on Sunday. “What a great way to kick off Houston Marathon weekend. The Texans’ win over the Browns really gave the city an injection of pride and enthusiasm. Our family was so excited to be a part of both. We loved the goodwill and sportsmanship seen at the game. Houston fans, be it Texans, Astros, or Rockets, are classy and respectful.” Heather’s husband, Steve, dad, Stan Killian, younger daughter, Carly, and Kelsey’s boyfriend, Alec Evans, also joined in the weekend’s festivities.

Steve Johnson

Ohio State Buckeyes and Houston Texans fan Steve Johnson proudly wears the jersey for fellow OSU alum, #7 Houston quarterback, C.J. Stroud.

Steve is a diehard Ohio State University Buckeye and was over the moon when the Texans drafted quarterback C.J. Stroud, who played at OSU. Heather said, “It really makes attending Texans games even more meaningful seeing Stroud’s success on the field. He is and will continue to be an incredible addition to the Houston community. We are so excited about this injection of energy and enthusiasm he and DeMeco Ryans have given to H-Town!”

Another diehard Buckeye alum, Melissa Rootes, loved every minute of the game including being there with her children, Chris and Caroline. Melissa’s husband, Jamey Rootes, who passed away in 2022, served as president of the Houston Texans for many years. “It was a great day to be a Texans fan. Jamey would be thrilled at the Texans’ current success. I’m excited to watch the Baltimore game this Saturday and keep cheering them on!”

Rootes family and Roger Goodell

One of the highlights of the Houston Texans vs. Cleveland Browns game for the Rootes family was meeting NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Pictured (from left) are Caroline Rootes, Roger Goodell, Melissa Rootes, and Chris Rootes.

Son Chris shared, “The game was so awesome, and our family and friends had so much fun! The team looked amazing.”

The Rootes family’s gameday adventures also included the special treat of meeting and taking a photo with NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell.

Houston: Let’s keep lifting up our Texans! They only need two more wins to head to the city’s first ever Super Bowl appearance, which will be in Las Vegas on February 11. This team has Texas-size hearts and so do their fans.

A fun option for Texans fans who are not travelling to see the game live in Baltimore, but still want to be part of the action, is heading downtown to 1001 Plaza at Avenida Houston in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center Saturday afternoon for the official Houston Texans Watch Party powered by Reliant, hosted by Houston First. The party begins at 1:30 p.m. prior to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. Admission to this outdoor event is free and open to all ages. Fans will enjoy the game on giant LED screens and TVs along with a Fan Fest with special appearances by Houston Texans Legends, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, TORO, Gameday Emcees Cecil Shorts III and Keisha Nicole, Gameday DJ Vanilla Trill and more.
