Honoring Cardinals #18
Bellaire High School’s Baseball Family Day officially kicks off the UIL season with Bellaire Cardinals players and their families celebrating the history of the program. This year’s event featured Bellaire Mayor Gus Pappas throwing out the first pitch, and recognized former Bellaire Cardinal Kirby Taylor, from the Class of 2010. Kirby was an outstanding middle-infielder for the Cardinals who continued his baseball career at Texas A&M University, San Jacinto Junior College, and Rice University, where he graduated in 2015. He was inducted into the Bellaire Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. After a valiant fight against cancer, Kirby passed away last year. Family and former Cardinals teammates gathered at Family Day when Kirby’s #18 was officially retired. Pictured are Kirby’s family (from left): brother Seth Taylor, mom Gina Taylor, wife Helen Taylor, daughter Eloise Taylor, dad Keith Taylor, sister Amanda Taylor Hill, and brother-in-law Wesley Hill.
