The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby

Summer reading guides are a great way to discover some fun seasonal reads. The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby is one of Cindy Burnett's top recommendations.

One of my favorite things about summer is perusing all of the summer reading lists, seeing how they overlap, finding hidden gems, and learning about books that had not been on my radar. Some lists focus on beach reads, while others include a wide variety of titles from many genres. Certain guides choose books already out in the world, while others focus on titles releasing in the summer. Often, lists are a combination of the two.

Below, I highlight some of my favorite lists for this upcoming summer, as well as my own Summer Reading Guide Preview for 2024. I have been reading books for the list since January, and ended up vetting over 200+ books: some I finished and loved, some I really enjoyed but couldn’t find a place for them on the guide, and others I only made it through 20-50 pages before realizing it was not for me.

Whether you are heading out on vacation, hanging out at your local pool or just enjoying a staycation, check out one or more of these guides to find a book to take with you.
