Frostwood world champs
The Frostwood Elementary School Odyssey of the Mind team (pictured) returned from the world finals at Iowa State University with the title of world champion, elementary division. Six fifth graders prepared for months to be ready to take on teams from around the nation and the world. Before reaching the final competition, the Frostwood team won first place at the Houston Area Regional competition and first place at the state competition in Denton, Texas. When they arrived on campus in Iowa, the students were ready with their solution to the Odyssey of the Mind Problem 3 challenge, “The Classics...Opening Night Antics.” Their challenge was to create a performance about a play where things go wrong on opening night, and they looked to Stratford High School’s The Play That Goes Wrong for inspiration. The Frostwood team incorporated themes from the literary classic Pride and Prejudice to craft their performance, including writing the script and creating costumes and backdrops. The world champs are (top row, from left): John Adams, coach Sarah Fuselier, Omer the Odyssey of the Mind mascot, Crystella Chu, Thomas Pennington; (bottom row, from left): Jane O’Shay, Catherine Fuselier, and Harrison Angel.
