Jill Lack, Lara Lack, Josh Lack, Monique Pappas, Cia Pappas, Plato Pappas, Nick Pappas, Lia Vallone, Alice Rohrman, and Grace Kim were among more than 600 wine enthusiasts at Iron Sommelier 2024 benefiting The Periwinkle Foundation. The annual event was held at The Post Oak Hotel and brought together 14 of the city’s top sommeliers to compete for the grand-prize title of Iron Sommelier. Chaired by Sean Beck and Lara Lack, the wine tasting and competition raises funds for Periwinkle’s camps, arts, and survivor programs for families facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Each competing sommelier was tasked with selecting three wines centered around a specific region, grape, or style. Guard & Grace’s Matthew McLaughlin was named 2024 Iron Sommelier champion for selections for his theme “Rhône If You Want To: Rhône Around the World.”
