A joyful luncheon

Ellen Stough, Maggie Austin, Annette Griffith, Abigail Tonry and Johnnie Frazier enjoyed the sold-out Blue Bird Circle annual luncheon. Arts and the Brain: Joyful Engagements, chaired by Austin and Stough, raised more than $300,000 to support pediatric neurological research and care at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, and Duncan Neurological Research Institute. This year’s luncheon featured Broadway actor Miguel Cervantes, known for his portrayal of Alexander Hamilton in the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton, who performed iconic songs from the show. Master of Ceremonies Ernie Manouse interviewed Cervantes who shared stories about the loss of his daughter who battled epilepsy. Dr. Debra F. Sukin, President and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital, the event honoree, spoke about the importance of continued research and medical advancements in pediatric neurology.
