Compassionate Houston, a network of 30 organizations focused on creating a culture of compassion in our city, hosted its annual luncheon at the Junior League of Houston. Father Gregory Boyle (pictured) spoke to the crowd and signed his latest book, Cherished Belonging: The Healing Power of Love in Divided Times. More than 200 guests attended the luncheon to hear from Father Boyle, who shared inspirational and humorous stories of hope and compassion. Founded in 2011, Compassionate Houston’s efforts led to the City of Houston’s designation as a Compassionate City, the first in the state of Texas. The organization hosts quarterly book study groups, with books chosen that discuss respect and compassion. In August, the selected book is Father Boyle’s Cherished Belonging
