Summer Streaming
New seasons to stream this summer

This summer has shaped up to be a summer of streaming, with shows dropping new seasons throughout the next few months. From the adaptation of bestselling novel We Were Liars to a third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the drought of new television has seemingly ended following the SAG-AFTRA strike.
We Were Liars – June 18th, Prime Video
Based on the novel by E. Lockhart, We Were Liars follows the lives of the secret-filled Sinclair family. Set on the family’s privately owned island off the coast of Massachusetts, the three Sinclair daughters and their children spend their summers on Beechwood Island. When something happens to Cadence at 16 years old one summer, the other three “liars” (what the Sinclair children call themselves) prompt her to remember the full story a year later. In the eight episodes, this psychological thriller characterizes the liars and their secrets throughout their summers in Beechwood.
“I read We Were Liars two summers ago, and it was super entertaining,” Lillian Gregory, a recent graduate of Memorial High School, said. “I’m excited to see how they turn it into a show and see what it’s like!”
The Bear, Season 4 – June 25th, Hulu
The Bear will drop 10 episodes at the end of June, a quick turnaround from their season 3 release last summer. Following Michelin-Star chef Carmy, the new season will pick up on the cliffhanger of season 3, where Carmy and fellow chef Syd anxiously await a make-or-break restaurant review.
“I really like that it’s a drama that doesn’t need to involve crazy situations,” Spencer Frederickson, a recent graduate of Wake Forest University, said. “The characters and their problems feel real, and I love that the show can have me laughing one minute and worried the next.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 3 – July 16th, Prime Video
Jenny Han’s hit YA book series turned TV show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, will release its third season this July. The show follows the main character, Belly, as she navigates a love triangle with brothers Jeremiah and Conrad. Like the first two seasons, season three will release episodes weekly from Jul. 16th to Sept. 17th.
“I watched The Summer I Turned Pretty right when it came out and I loved it,” said Gabby Dastmalchian, a recent graduate of Memorial High School. “It was a little cringe (I hate that her nickname is Belly), but I pushed past it because it was still so good. I think the first season was better than the second, but I can’t wait for the new season! #teamconrad.”
Wednesday, Season 2 – Aug. 6th, Netflix
Released in two parts, season 2 part 1 of Wednesday will drop on Netflix in early August. As the first season of Wednesday concluded with two massive cliffhangers, viewers can expect to see resolution in the second season. Lady Gaga has also confirmed a guest appearance on the show in the second season.
“The first season [of Wednesday] was so good,” Sydney Merritt, a recent graduate of Memorial High School, said. “I hope in season two they dive deeper into the character’s back stories.”
