Awty’s Fall Trips: Connections Beyond the Classroom

On Friday, September 19th, Awty’s high school students embarked on their annual Fall Trips, a tradition that gives students the opportunity to relax and connect with their peers outside the classroom. Each grade went on a different adventure: seniors enjoyed Kemah Boardwalk, juniors played at Exit Lab Escape Rooms and Urban Air, sophomores swung by Putt Shack and Del Mar Lanes, while freshmen traveled to Camp Allen.
Seniors were given the opportunity to vote on their destination for Fall Trips, and Kemah Boardwalk won the majority of votes. While only half of the seniors showed up for their outing last year, most of them attended this year, showing the success and fun of the amusement park trip.
Senior Scotia Linn commented, “I liked the trip. I just felt like it was really short, but it was good and fun.” Senior Lucy Holt agreed with her and said, “It was fun but short. We were only able to do things for 3 hours.”
These comments reflect how seniors enjoyed the trip so much that they wished there was even more time to spend with friends, showing the popularity of Fall Trips among students.
Juniors overall had a fun time, spending the day in escape rooms and at the trampoline park, fondly reminding them of their childhood days.
“It was fun, and I had a good time. I liked that we could buy our own food and snacks at Urban Air,” commented junior Sophia Shakourifar. However, not everyone was as enthusiastic as Addy James reflected, “Fall Trips were a little boring. They kind of got old after a while as the novelty ran off fast after the first hour or two. The majority of fun came from talking to other people, not the activities.”
Sophomores shared mixed feelings as well. Many of them enjoyed mini golf but found bowling boring, as sophomore Isabella Vargas Silva noted, “It was chill. I enjoyed it, but I wish we had done the trampoline park. Bowling was boring, and it could’ve been better.”
Meanwhile, freshmen were excited to go on their first Fall Trip in high school to Camp Allen, enjoying a day filled with fun outdoor activities.
For freshman Maya Sourp, the only complaint was missing out on an iconic part of any Texas road trip as she said, “We didn’t go to Buc-ee's, but it was fun.”
Overall, Awty’s Fall Trips once again gave students the chance to spend time with their friends and connect with new people as students expressed a lot of enjoyment. Still, some feedback suggests that there is room for improvement for next year.
