Cathedral’s First Ever College Acceptances

The above photo, taken by Mrs. Elaine Jones, shows the Cathedral class of 2026. The students are (left to right): Maggie Kramer, Dominic Block, Charles Hough, John Paul England, Josef Castillo, Kevin Claudio, Francis Martens, Christina Hill, Vida Granados, Genevieve Simmons, Dominic Meade, and Matilda Jones.
This is the first time students of Cathedral High School have ever been accepted into college. Our founding class just had its very first acceptances, and the students are currently awaiting more. Vida Granados, Charlie Hough, and JP England are the first three students ever to be accepted into college from Cathedral High School.
The students have been accepted to various public and private schools, including Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University, Benedictine College, and Stephen F. Austin State University. They have been accepted by a wide range of types of schools, some being Catholic liberal arts schools, similar to Cathedral, and some being large public schools.
The seniors worked very hard to earn a good reputation for the school. Because there have been no senior classes before this year, colleges do not yet know what kind of school Cathedral is. The seniors have been putting in effort to make good impressions on every college they apply to. They have volunteered at church, raised money for the poor, and proved their diligence by achieving high grades in their classes and high scores on standardized tests.
When these students were accepted to colleges, the news was announced over the intercom to the whole school. Vida, Charlie, and JP enjoyed many congratulations from the entire student body. Each student was given individual congratulations on the day they were accepted into a college.
Since this is the very first senior class, Cathedral is experiencing many things for the first time this year. Cathedral High School has begun to see many different senior traditions, like wearing little kid backpacks to school and senior sunrise. The seniors have also started to wear suits on game days.
The founding class has done so much for Cathedral over the last four years, and they will leave a permanent mark on the school when they graduate. The seniors started many sports programs and clubs at the school. They sang the first evensong, and they welcomed new students with open arms. They helped form the school into what it is today, and their hard work is paying off. Vida, Charlie, and JP’s college acceptances are a huge achievement for the school and show just how much potential our school has for its students.
