Making a difference

Sippi Khurana, Maritza Gonzales, Vicky Dominguez, Leila Perrin, and Leisa Holland Nelson Bowman were among the 300 supporters at the Making a Difference event benefiting El Centro de Corazón (El Centro). Guests gathered at Hotel ZaZa to raise funds for low-income, medically underserved children, adults, and families in Greater Houston. Event chairs Vicky Dominguez and Maritza Gonzales led the celebration of 30 years of El Centro and raised more than $175,000. KHOU Channel 11’s Anayeli Ruiz served as emcee and Vicki Luna was recognized as the 2025 Community Leader Honoree. El Centro’s chief executive officer Marcie Mir addressed the crowd and then turned over the program to keynote speaker John Quiñones, creator and host of ABC’s What Would You Do?
