Superwoman’s bucket list

Elaine (Ewing) Ver Halen and husband Jon Ver Halen, with their 6-month-old daughter Charlotte and their nanny Cheryl Welch, arrived in Panama City Beach for the Ironman Florida so Elaine could participate in the triathlon. She compared her experience of swimming in an ocean for 2.4 miles with approximately 3,000 other athletes to swimming in a wave pool at Schlitterbahn. The 1:34:24-hour swim was followed by a near-7-hour, 112-mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2-mile marathon. It took her 14:05:43 to complete. Elaine and John are in a triathlon club, and she has run 30 marathons. Look for John and Elaine at the 70.3 miler in New Orleans in April and for Elaine in Ironman Texas 2016.
