Down on one knee, Michael Friedlander asked his longtime love, Lisa Rubenstein, to marry him. The pair first met in high school through their youth group, BBYO, and dated for a year. Lisa attended The Emery/Weiner School, and Michael attended The Kinkaid School. They parted ways as Michael went off to college at American University and Lisa to the University of Michigan, but they stayed in touch as friends. They rekindled in December 2012 and have been together ever since. While Lisa was visiting family in Houston, Michael flew in, surprised her, and proposed as they were surrounded by friends and family. The couple currently lives in Washington, D.C. but have plans to move to Houston soon. They are planning a spring wedding.
