Cardinal pride
Bellaire High School senior and Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Natalie Romero, battalion commander of Bellaire’s JROTC Cadet Battalion, was awarded the Legion of Valor for Achievement at a recent HISD board meeting. This is the second highest award in JROTC (Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), placing her in the top .00001 percent of all JROTC cadets in the nation. Her name was submitted to Congress and is now permanently recorded in the Congressional Record. She is only the second HISD cadet in 13 years to receive this national award. (Last year, Bellaire’s Cadet Bianca Rubio also received it.) Pictured (from left) are Houston ISD trustee Mike Lunceford, Romero, Lt. Col. Dennis Driscoll and principal Michael McDonough.
