A tradition continues
Hunter Gilbert, a senior at Memorial High School, recently became an Eagle Scout at BSA Troop 652. He served multiple leadership roles including senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, Philmont crew leader and Northern Tier crew leader. Hunter earned 32 merit badges. His Eagle project benefited St. Peter United Church of Christ, the troop sponsor. For the church, he designed and led the construction of a wheelchair ramp in the historic chapel built in 1848. Hunter was the sixth Gilbert to receive the rank of Eagle Scout. Hunter (pictured, middle) was preceded by (from left) Jay F. Gilbert (cousin, 2007), Grant Hunter Gilbert (father, 1985), Greg Gilbert (uncle, 1985), Scott Gilbert (uncle, 1977) and Jay M. Gilbert (uncle, 1973), making Jayne Hunter Gilbert one very proud grandmother and mother. Hunter will be attending the Whitacre School of Engineering at Texas Tech University in the fall.
