Throwback Thursday: History of The Galleria

As Houston prepares for a new era of the Galleria, with the grand opening of a new wing and rebuilt Saks Fifth Avenue in April, let’s take a step back in time when Houston was all a “buzz” with the grand opening of The Galleria in 1970. The new shopping center was anchored by Neiman Marcus, and was modeled after a similar shopping venue in Milan, Italy. The centerpiece of Houston’s Galleria has always been the indoor ice-skating rink.
