A group of fourth graders from Memorial Drive Elementary, including (pictured, from left) Amanda Janecek, McKenzie McKown, Alexis Gill, Tyler Minter, Alden Labban, Charlotte Collins, Carolyn Branca and Berkley Segelke, aka “Amanda’s Army,” gathered to fight cystic fibrosis. They walked in the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides event at the Lynn Eusan Park on the campus of the University of Houston. More than 700 walkers participated and raised over $725,000. Of that amount, $17,000 came from Amanda’s Army.
