Girl Scout Troop 147012 members, including (pictured, from left) Margaret Schwierking of Herod Elementary, Isabelle Jeanjean of West University Elementary, Dayala Cummings of Elrod Elementary, Haya Allaham, Katherine Chen, Oceana Jin and Andrea Morales of Horn Elementary, Virginia Miller of St. Mark’s Episcopal School and (not pictured) Amaya Sheperd of KIPP, tend weekly to a special garden in Bellaire. The company Chevron is allowing the group to use its property on Mayfair for the project. Chevron also had its landscapers prepare, till, add good dirt and mulch the garden area. The girls planted seeds on April 6 as a team. Each girl comes once a week to water and tend the area. Their goal is to take whatever crop they grow to a local food shelter.
