It has been a banner year for the Lamar Redskins baseball team. This season coach Mike McGilvray celebrated his 500th career win after an 8-0 Lamar victory over district rival Westside. Then the Redskins clinched the District 20-5A Championship, surpassing rivals Bellaire and Westside to take sole possession of the district title. Lamar hasn’t had sole possession of the District 20-5A title since 2004, and they haven’t advanced to the Region III quarterfinals since 1998.
