'Post Oak Blvd.: A Texas Legacy' Film

A few lucky Buzz residents were invited to a private screening of “Post Oak Blvd.: A Texas Legacy,” this week, hosted by John Daugherty of John Daugherty, Realtors and Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse’s General Manager Zaidi Syed.
The film originally aired on PBS this summer and took a year to produce. Bob Ethington from Uptown Houston worked with Kim Lykins and Jim Bailey from the Texas Foundation for the Arts to create this one-hour documentary featuring the history of Post Oak. Bob said their goal was to share the tale of this area with Houstonians. Initially, the film started out as a 30-minute special but once they got into production, they realized it wasn’t long enough to cover its incredible history.
Mary Catherine Farrington Miller has a brief appearance and talks about how she recalls helping her dad name the streets of Tanglewood. She actually came up with the name “Tanglewood” after her favorite novel, Tanglewood Tales by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The response has been so good that their next potential project will be to turn the story into a novel or coffee table book.
