Supplies from Target

In honor of Elyse Spector Kalmans' birthday, her friends bought supplies from Target for families in Louisiana affected by the flooding. They packed friend Anna Dean Kamins' car full before she heads to Baton Rouge.

Bellaire resident Elyse Spector Kalmans loves Target. When she saw how a mom recently threw her Target-obsessed son’s 7th birthday at Target – which went viral -  Elyse was inspired. But she didn’t want any birthday gifts for herself.

Elyse saw the need for helping families in Louisiana affected by the recent flood and she knew that her friend Anna Dean Kamins was heading to Baton Rouge this week. So she invited friends to celebrate at Target in Meyerland yesterday and help buy supplies or gift cards in honor of her birthday to support families in Louisiana. In addition, Elyse is on the board of nonprofit Undies for Everyone, so her friends also helped purchase underwear to go to disadvantaged students in Houston.

Target cupcakes

Elyse Spector Kalmans brought cupcakes for her friends to enjoy decorated with the Target bullseye.

In true spirit of the Target theme, Elyse brought cupcakes decorated with the Target bullseye for her friends to enjoy and dressed in a red top and khaki pants. (Several Target employees spotted her outfit and asked if she had forgotten her employee discount card.)

Friends celebrating included Greta Ravitsky, Nicole Nathan Gibson, Sara Speer Selber, Beth Schlanger, Barbara Kalmans, Lewis Kalmans, Amelia Ribnick Kleiman, Cheryl Goodfriend Levy, Ann Montalvo Guillerman, Laura Plastrik Alter, Elizabeth Rigney, Allison Levine and Anna Dean Kamins.

The group ultimately packed Anna’s SUV full of diapers, paper towels, cleaning supplies and more for families from Louisiana.
