Joanie Jackson (pictured), 13, gallops downfield on her pony during a game of polo. The Second Baptist School eighth grader is an accomplished polo competitor. She plays at the Houston Polo Club (the largest club in the country) in the 2 Goal league and competes at the United States Polo Association interscholastic level. Last year, Joanie traveled to Argentina for a weeklong polo clinic. She is preparing for a tournament on Nov. 15 at the Houston Polo Club, as one of the top-eight middle school players in the Houston area. Her tournament will be followed by the finals of the Women’s Invitational, featuring the nation’s top female players.
