Although Andrew Gardener and his former roommate from Emory University, Bruce Brodsky, have taken an annual hike since 2012, their first international trek together was to Machu Picchu. Andrew admits it was a physically grueling adventure, primarily due to the altitude. They hiked the Lares Trek on the way to Machu Picchu. In the eight days they met other worldly travelers, slept in tents and ate alpaca. Ancient civilization is good for a short time.
