50th birthday fun
Lynette Cone woke up on her 50th birthday this summer to find her yard “flocked” with hot pink plastic flamingoes. Her neighbors had surprised her with the fun tradition. That evening, friends and family gathered to continue the celebration. Although it was a Thursday night, all of the invited guests attended the party. Pico’s catered for dinner, the DJ set the scene with music, and the fiesta didn’t die down till 1 a.m. Her husband, Dr. Mark Cone, is a physician at Texas Woman’s Hospital but is famous among friends for his slideshow-making skills. Mark played such a top-notch, roast-and-toast kind of movie that Lynette heard from many of her girlfriends the next day that their husbands plan to hire Mark for future birthday celebrations. Pictured are Lynette with her sons, 20-year-old Luke (at left) and 18-year-old Quinton, who also roasted and toasted her; 13-year-old Lilly was at Camp Longhorn but attended the party in spirit by sending chocolate-covered strawberries plus a card. “It was one of those crazy nights where everyone was in a great mood,” Lynette said, describing singing, dancing, karaoke and line dancing as among the favorite activities of the night.
