This time of year is always fun with holiday festivities and especially since it’s less-than-wintry-weather here, many events take place outside and you’ll only need a light jacket! Here are some events to look forward to this weekend and next week.

Outdoor Films with the Family

Watch a classic holiday favorite, Miracle on 34th Street, outside with family and friends at Discovery Green, part of their Bank of America Friday Flicks series. Friday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Another holiday favorite, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, will be playing at Market Square Park, Saturday, 7 p.m.

Holiday Festivities in Galveston

Looking to get out of town but don’t want to venture too far? Moody Gardens has some fun, family-friendly events, such as the 13th annual Festival of Lights, including more than 1 million lights and animated displays plus live entertainment, as well as the Iceland Ice Sculptures with Spongebob Squarepants, featuring internationally-acclaimed professional ice carvers. Both events are open 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

In addition, bring the family for holiday festivities for Galveston Holiday in the Park at Saengerfest Park at 23rd & Strand Saturday and Sunday for local, live entertainment, shopping, photos with Santa, and more.
