Man’s best friend
Kristen Maurer (pictured, with rescue dog Roxie) is raising funds for some special canines. She is president and co-founder of Mission K9 Rescue, a non-profit organization that transports, adopts, reunites and provides care for military and contract working dogs. The organization has transported over 40 dogs this past year from distant locations like Afghanistan, Germany, Japan and Kuwait to be reunited with their former handlers or adopted to new families. Mission K9 Rescue currently has 20 retired working dogs in Houston that came from Afghanistan and Kuwait, and they are looking to raise donations for their care. For more information, see their Facebook page at facebook.com/MissionK9 or call Kristen at 713-240-1383.
