Grand slam
Wilchester third grader Braxton Wakefield (pictured) hit it big with a grand-slam homerun at Baseball USA. Wakefield plays for the Marucci Bulls, an elite baseball team managed by Kevin Witt and coached by Jay Andrews, who are both former professional players. He has played with the team since 2013; the boys recently moved from coach pitch to kid pitch. In the last inning of the game against the Salty Dogs, the Bulls were down several runs. After a couple of walks, the bases were loaded, and Wakefield was up to bat. Facing two outs and a full count, he crushed the ball to the fence and brought in four runs.
